Domenick Yezzi
Domenick Joseph Yezzi, age 87 of Locust Valley, New York and Palm Harbor, Florida, died Monday, April 8, 2013 surrounded by his wife and children. Domenick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Domenick was born January 29, 1926 in Corona, New York to Domenick J. and Angelina Yezzi. He attended PS 14 and Forest Hills High School where he played basketball in the days of the two-handed set shot. A member of the Greatest Generation, he was inducted into the US Navy on June 13, 1944. He served in the Pacific war zone on LSM 491. Upon returning from the war on February 26, 1946, he managed the family business, the Corona Central Chicken Market and worked at night as an insurance broker. Domenick eventually started his own business, the Yezzi & Company, Inc. of Manhasset, New York. For many years, Domenick was very active in St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Bayside, New York as an usher, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and in the church bowling league. In earlier years, he was a low-handicapped and avid golfer. He was former member of North Hills Country Club, where he helped raise funds through many Catholic Charities outings. He loved traveling with his wife Susan, especially on their trips to Atri, Italy to visit his family. Domenick was well known for his generosity, including helping numerous family members to get their start in the insurance business. He was a joy to be around because of his easy smile, classy demeanor and his ability to always see the good in everybody and every situation. Domenick is survived by his wife, Susan Lynne Zorzo Yezzi of Locust Valley, New York; his children, Domenick Yezzi Jr. (Karen) of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Joyce Kochman (Jerry) of Commack, New York, Judith Hammond (William) of Melville, New York, Joanne Maneri (Anthony) of Huntington, New York, Ginger Comitino (Jack) of Glen Cove, New York and Thomas Yezzi of Oyster Bay, New York. Domenick is also survived by his grandchildren, Sandra Innocenzi, Carly Yezzi, Christopher Hammond, Michael Kochman, Beth Constantine, Carolyn Dooley, Katherine Maneri, Joseph Maneri, Jessica Comitino, Victoria Comitino, Stephen Maneri and Nicholas Comitino, and his great-grandchildren, Luca Innocenzi, Damian Innocenzi, Lucy Constantine, Sabina Innocenzi, and Chase Constantine. In addition, Domenick is also survived by his sister, Carmela Franzese (Louis) of Port Washington, New York, his sister-in-law, Elsie Yezzi of Lake Park, Florida, and his brother-in-law, John Timothy Zorzo of Hicksville, New York, and his nieces and nephews, Robert Franzese, Jeanne Campbell, Janet Vineis, Donna Stein and Randy Yezzi. He is preceded in death by his parents Domenick Joseph Yezzi and Angelina Yezzi and brother Arthur Yezzi The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10 at the Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Avenue, Glen Head, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gertrude’s, 28 School Street, Bayville, New York at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, with a graveside service immediately following at Locust Valley Cemetery, 117 Ryefield Road, Locust Valley, New York. Richard Zebrowski
Richard A. Zebrowski of Manchester, New Jersey and formerly of Glen Head, New York died suddenly on June 1. He was 79.
Born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Mr. Zebrowski lived most of his life on Long Island. He retired as general contractor from Charles Zebrowski & Son in Locust Valley, New York. He worked in that business for over 40 years and and took pleasure in the craftsmanship of his work. He and his father worked on many of the grand estates on Long Island’s Gold Coast. He also served in the US Army.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maureen (Waxon) Zebrowski, his daughter Kathleen Zebrowski and her husband Michael McGraw of Morristown, New Jersey and his son Richard C. Zebrowski and his wife Carrie Mills Zebrowski of Lincoln University, Pennsylvania. His sister Suzanne Switala of Corte Madera, California also survives him, along with four grandchildren, Carly (Nate) Cole of Hoboken, New Jersey, Jessica Zebrowski and Michael Zebrowski of Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, and Brianna McGraw of Morristown, New Jersey.
