She also graduated Queens College. She sold Real Estate. She was active in political organizations: League of Women Voters and SANE. She was smart, creative and funny; she loved gardening and a good argument. She is survived by her daughter Alyce; Sisters-in-law Margaret Ferrarie and Patricia Ferrarie and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Frank & Armida Ferrarie, her siblings Marie, Robert and Arthur Ferrarie and her son Paul Hershenhart. Grace L. Nugent 79 of Long Beach, NY passed away Tuesday October 15, 2013. She was a loving mother and elementary school teaching having taught on Long Island. In addition, she was an elementary school teacher for the US Air Force in Misawa, Japan and Normandy, France from 1959-1962. She received her Masters degree from Hofstra University.
Grace was born May 25, 1934 to the late Kathryn Kerwin Nugent and James Nugent the 2nd in Forest Hills, NY. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her eldest brother, James Nugent the 3rd. Grace is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Nugent Casale, Kathryn’s husband Frank, and grandchildren Daniel, Alexandra, William, and Jake Casale of Glen Cove, NY. She is further survived by her brother Neil Nugent, his wife Patricia of Huntington, NY and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held 4-7pm Saturday at Whitting Funeral Home in Glen Head, NY.

Hurley, Prudence T. of Sea Cliff on October 29th 2013 in her 86th year. Predeceased by her soul-mate and husband Charles; loving mother of Lucinda and Kathleen Stannish (Victor) and cherished grandmother of Michael and James Stannish. Beloved sister and sister-in-law of Jay “Bud” and Barbara Truesdell, dear aunt to the Truesdell, Hurley and Peck families, and “Auntie Prue” to many long time Sea Cliff friends. An active Sea Cliff resident she loved meeting and greeting friends in the village – her eyes lighting up in recognition. She was a life long member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church and prior to her illness she was active in the Sea Cliff Village Museum, Sea Cliff Civic Association, Mutual Concerns, a member of the Hempstead Harbor Club and Sea Cliff High School and Dalton “Class of 45”. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Prudence’s memory to Cure Alzheimers Fund (curealz.org) or the Sea Cliff Village Museum P.O. Box 72, Sea Cliff, NY 11579.
